In a large bowl, combine ground beef (or turkey), BBQ sauce, chopped onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.
Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
Grease a muffin tin lightly and press each dough triangle into the cups, forming a small shell.
Spoon approximately one tablespoon of the meat mixture into each crescent dough cup.
Top each meat-filled cup with a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
Allow the cups to cool for a few minutes before serving.
